Gender Fail Of The Day

| Ladies Parking at Grand Lucky... |
Yes.
I
know.
You are too shocked to grasp this picture.
But
yes.
It is true.
This
is a parking for lady drivers only. A rather common concept in malls and supermarkets here in Jakarta. A
row (within a large supermarket parking) of reserved parking spaces just for
women. Yay!
This
reserved ladies parking is normally close to the entrance of said mall/supermarket.
On my first appalled discovery of this concept I was told that these spaces
weren’t any different from the “manly” ones, except that this way women in heels
(obviously) would have an easier time getting to the mall. This explains why
the ladies parking is located right next to the handicapped spaces (...), but
it’s still not a satisfying reason for such gender differentiation.
But
things only got worse the other day, when on my way to the supermarket, my
suspicions were finally confirmed... The size of the lady driver parking spaces
is actually modified – as shown in
the picture - so women like me finally
can manage to park our own car, and thus be able to drive by ourselves. Thank God.....
Now,
maybe it’s just me. No one else seems to react. But. Seriously. This is extremely insulting! I mean, what image do people (men and women, since women are actually using
them...) have of women and our abilities?!
Hello
gender fail.
(Tribulations - LCD Soundsystem)
