Yesterday evening (almost five hours after scheduled time (surprise surprise)) the General Elections Commission (KPU) finally announced the official final vote result naming Jokowi president-elect.

Out of a total of 133.5 million Indonesians (70.2% of the voting population), Jokowi received 70.997.833 (53.15% of the votes) compared to Prabowo's 62.576.444 (46.85%). (Can you understand that these figures are millions of peeps?! Its so much people!).

Soo, supposedly Indonesia has a new president, it's 7th president. However, the election drama does not end here. Yesterday afternoon, hours before the final result was announced by the KPU, Prabowo held a press conference questioning the neutrality of the KPU, ranting about election fraud, rejecting the official election results and finally withdrawing himself from the electoral process (whatever that means...).

Even so, there is still a way for Prabowo to turn this around (although very unlikely to succeed). If he still refuses to acknowledge defeat, Prawobo has until Friday evening (72h after the KPU announcement) to appeal to the Constitutional Court (not the Supreme Court as I wrote the other day) and see if they would like to change the election result to his favour (only 8.3 million votes to be swapped...).

But for now, Selamat Jokowi-JK!

Ayer por la noche (casi cinco horas después de la hora programada (sorpresa, sorpresa)), la Comisión General de Elecciones (KPU) finalmente anunció el resultado oficial de las elecciones presidenciales nombrando a Jokowi presidente electo. 

De un total de 133,5 millones (!!!) de indonesios (70,2% de la población votante), Jokowi recibió 70.997.833 (53,15% de los votos) en comparación con los 62.576.444 (46,85%) de Prabowo.

Asique, supuestamente Indonesia tiene un nuevo presidente, su séptimo presidente. Sin embargo, el drama electoral no termina aquí. Ayer por la tarde, horas antes de que el resultado final fuese anunciado por la KPU, Prabowo mantuvo una conferencia de prensa durante la que puso en duda la neutralidad de la KPU, despotrico contra el fraude electoral, rechazo los resultados oficiales de las elecciones y finalmente se 'retiro' del proceso electoral (no se sabe muy bien que quiso decir con eso...). 

Aun así, todavía queda un ultima oportunidad para Prabowo (aunque con muy pocas posibilidades de éxito). Si todavía se niega a reconocer la derrota, Prawobo tiene hasta el viernes por la tarde (72h después del anuncio de la KPU) a recurrir ante el Tribunal Constitucional (no la Corte Suprema como escribí el otro día) y ver si les gustaría cambiar el resultado de las elecciones a su favor (sólo una diferencia de 8,3 millones de votos por toquetear...). 

Pero por ahora, Selamat Jokowi-JK!
