T8

Hoy empieza oficialmente la temporada de tifones con el primer tifon #8 de la temporada. En Hong Kong los tifones se clasifican en nivel 1, 3 y 8 (T8 siendo un tifon en regla). Una vez en T8 todo deja de funcionar. Por suerte, en la isla de HK un tifon no se nota mucho y tiene poco peligro. Si estas en partes mas expuestas de la ciudad puede notarse mas, pero normalmente no suelen ser peligrosos. En el trabajo te avisan 2h antes de que salga la señal T8 para tengas tiempo de llegar a casa. Por desgracia eso hoy ha pasado a las 18.30. Pero si mañana sigue las senal hasta pasadas las 12 del mediodia, no se va a trabajar!

Typhoon season officially begins today with the first Typhoon 8 of the season. In Hong Kong typhoons are classified into level 1, 3 or 8 (with T8 being a full on typhoon). Once T8 signal everything and everyone in the city stop working. Fortunately, on HK island a typhoon isn't really a big deal and is not dangerous. If you are in other more exposed parts of the city it can get sketchier, but it's normally not dangerous. At work they need to let you know 2h before T8 is signaled so that you can get home safely. Unfortunately, that happened at 6.30pm today. But if the signal is still up by noon tomorrow, people get a Typhoon Day Off!
