Three hours after being supposed to leave the office, I am finally home. The first two hours I spent waiting for a taxi to arrive to my office, and the third (and a bit more) I spent stuck in the streets of Jakarta. Yesterday this same trip took me 2.5 hours, this morning it was two hours and tomorrow Friday I don't even want to know.
The incesant rain over the past few days and the fact that streets in this city are asphalted (is that a word?) with sand from the beach (or something), enable together for giant wholes to appear on the roads during the rainy season. With a disastrous traffic on regular days, these wholes might just add yet another hour (or more) to your trip home. Every day.
Funny story... Yesterday Per (who abandonned me for the week and left me without a car) left the office one and a half hour before me. Still, after warning me about the total retardness of traffic on our normal road home, 2.5 hours after saying good bye to me at the office I found him behind my taxi in a completely different part of town. Happy days.
